On Volunteering

From the June 05 Bulletin:
- A message from our Medical committee Chair
- An interview with Dr Chen

The Surgeons of Hope Foundation seeks to establish a US network of volunteer surgeons who will participate in surgical missions. This network of surgeons will play an invaluable role in our efforts to train local surgeons and to operate on impoverished children who need immediate care. The surgeons will be sent on short medical missions from 8 to 15 days to perform operations and to train local surgeons. SoH will also offer research-based fellowships from 6 to 12 months at the local hospitals.

The network of volunteer surgeons may also be used in a rotation scheme with SoH’s sister organizations and their hospital projects. These collaborative efforts will allow SoH to increase both the training of local surgeons and the number of operations on impoverished children in developing countries.

The volunteer surgeons for medical missions will be selected on the basis of qualification, experience and area of medical specialization. The surgeons may also be chosen through cooperation agreements with hospitals or medical clinics.

Please contact us on how to contribute human resources.
